League One newcomers Luton Town are desperate to keep hold of one of their star players as Championship Coventry City come knocking.
The Hatters are adjusting to life in the third tier following their relegation from the Championship last season. Many pundits, including our own League One Lowdown Podcast have them amongst the favourites for promotion. However, as with any side that have suffered the drop keeping hold of your stars becomes a priority.
Their opening day win over AFC Wimbledon will have settled some nerves, but they did have to rely on an 85th minute own goal to take all three points.
The club have been reasonably busy in the market with Jerry Yates, Cohen Bramall, Nahki Wells, Hakeem Odoffin and George Saville amongst those who have joined so far.
Thelo Aasgaard, Amari’i Bell and Alfie Doughty have all departed and there may well be further losses this summer transfer window.

Coventry City Amongst Clubs Pursuing Lamine Fanne from Luton Town
Coventry City are amongst the clubs considering a move for Lamine Fanne from Luton Town, alongside Cremonese and Union Saint-Gilloise, according to Rudy Galetti.
On his X account he posted;
‘EXCL | Cremonese, Coventry City and Union Saint-Gilloise have joined the race for Lamine Fanne.’
‘Empoli and Basaksehir also approached the midfielder recently.’
‘Luton consider Lamine a key part of the project and are currently keen to keep him in the squad.’
Whilst it is the club’s intention to keep hold of the player, it may be difficult for the star to turn down the opportunity to return to the second tier.

Luton Town’s Difficult Season
Luton Town have been on a downwards trajectory since they made history by being promoted to the Premier League. They are rapidly dropping down the divisions and need to stop the rot quickly.
The 25/26 League One roster looks to be tight and competitive, meaning a couple of bad results could see you drop down into trouble. There are clubs such as Huddersfield Town who have utilised the transfer window well to strengthen and they will likely be unforgiving in their pursuit of promotion.
