Manchester United’s hunt for a new Premier League striker is over, after beating Newcastle United to the signing of RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
The Magpies had been aggressive in their approaches for the young striker, but he made it clear that he wanted MUFC.
Ruben Amorim’s side had already missed out on Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres and Liverpool’s Ekitike but have finally got their man.
Arsenal were in pursuit earlier in the summer but opted to add Amorim’s former player to their ranks.
Newcastle had submitted two bids, that were higher and a more favourable structure but the player’s desire has been clear.
Manchester United Agree Benjamin Sesko Striker Transfer Deal with RB Leipzig
Manchester United have agreed a deal that is worth an initial £66.3m plus £7.37m in performance-related add-ons. They have offered less up front than Newcastle and a lower wage package but have won the race. This has been widely reported and then confirmed by The Football Deck’s sources.
He is set to travel to Carrington in the next 24/48 hours to undergo a medical. Sesko joins Cunha and Mbeumo in the club’s new look attack.

What does the Future Hold for Rasmus Hojlund?
There have been several links between Hojlund and clubs around Europe, but the player has made it clear he wants to stay. Last season he struggled to shoulder the burden of leading the line and often looked isolated. Whilst he does provide cover and a different option off the bench, it is understood the club would like to offload him.
But that may not be possible with the player’s insistence he wants to fight for his place.
With Mbeumo and Cunha both now about to provide additional opportunities alongside Bruno Fernandes, it may be easier for the young forward to score this season. However, it is clear that Sesko will be the club’s preferred starting option.
Next attention turns to a midfielder, and a goalkeeper.
