The League Two play-offs are well underway with Notts County among the four clubs competing for a spot in League One next season.
Unfortunately for the historic club, there is work to do in the second leg as they fell to a 1-0 defeat to AFC Wimbledon with forward Alassana Jatta picking up a red card in the process.
However, despite not knowing what league they will be competing in next year, the club are still looking at potential transfer targets with the latest to be linked Blackpool defender Jordan Gabriel.
Notts County Face Competition for Gabriel
Notts County are not the only club to have shown an interest in Jordan Gabriel, who was a notable edition to Blackpool’s released section on their retained list.
Gabriel had a positive boost when Steve Bruce first took charge of the Seasiders, but soon found himself falling down the pecking order as the season progressed. Now he finds himself without a club despite interest from Oxford United and Lincoln City just 12 months ago.
Gabriel Would Suit Notts County
League One Lowdown pundit Sam Griffin has urged Notts County to go all out to secure the signing despite interest from League One.
“Gabriel, had struggled for consistent minutes over the past 2 seasons with Blackpool, starting only 13 games in 24/25 and 10 in 23/24.”
“With Burton, Doncaster and Notts County, rumoured to be interested, I believe he would be a good pick for Burton and Notts County. Doncaster already have Jamie Sterry so there would be immediate competition for Jordan, and now being 27 he needs to cement his place as the number 1 pick.”
“Question marks still remain over Reading’s future with the takeover so until that is resolved we need to rule them out despite their desperate need for players this summer”
“Notts County and Burton also play with wing backs, which suits the attributes that Gabriel possesses with him being a better attacking wing back than a traditional full back.”
“Gabriel would likely be a statement signing if Notts County can secure promotion and they should go all out to bring him to the club. However, if they don’t win the play-offs he may be tempted to look elsewhere”
