Connor Taylor has been a topic of interest this summer, with Wycombe Wanderers emerging as the latest club to confirm their interest in the Bristol Rovers defender.

Previously linked with Peterborough United, questions have circulated all summer as to whether Bristol Rovers can maintain their man amid their recent relegation to League Two.

According to Steve Hutson, the Buckinghamshire outfit’s bid is below the Gas’ valuation of the 23-year-old; however, a move may still surface.

With Kamil Conteh similarly linked with a move away from the Memorial Stadium, the coming month will certainly be interesting as Darrell Clarke braces his side for life in the fourth tier.

Wycombe Wanderers Bid for Connor Taylor

With a plethora of League One interest in Connor Taylor having surfaced this summer, Wycombe have lodged an official bid for the player.

The Chairboys’ move for the player comes as little surprise, with younger defensive reinforcements a necessity given Caleb Taylor’s return to West Bromwich Albion, as well as their current options reaching the latter years of their careers.

Taylor has gained a great wealth of experience in the third tier despite his young age.

Having won promotion on loan with the Gas in the 2021-22 season, the club later made his stay at the club permanent.

Signing from Stoke City in 2023, Taylor became an established figure in the team’s defence, making 87 appearances for the club in the past two campaigns.

Having bolstered their central defensive ranks with Taylor Allen and Dan Casey, Wycombe’s attentions look to be turning towards the former Stoke City man.

He is a physical defender, with an excellent capability and comfort in playing the ball out from defence. If Wycombe are to secure a deal for Taylor, they would be gaining a player who is proven at the level with excellent potential for future sell-on-value.

An Interesting Summer for Bristol Rovers

Following a dismal 2024-25 campaign which saw Rovers relegated back to League Two, Darrell Clarke was appointed, tasked to lead the club back to the third tier.

While the signings of Macauley Southam-Hales, Jack Sparkes, and Josh McEachran are impressive, the remainder of Clarke’s window may be defined by outgoings.

With the Gas’s opening fixture at home to Harrogate less than a week away, questions still loom over the situations of some individuals in the squad.

As previously mentioned, Kamil Conteh has attracted suitors from the Championship and League One, with Cardiff City and Plymouth Argyle reportedly interested.

While the current squad boasts quality, the situations of Taylor and Conteh will be hugely topical going into the latter stages of the transfer window.
